Susan is an experienced counsellor and psychologist who has worked both in the oil-related private sector and within the NHS. Her interest in people and their well-being began with a career in nursing but her interest in psychology grew with her desire to empower people to take more control of their own health and wellness. She completed an MA (Hons) in Psychology and later a PhD in Health Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. She is experienced in working with general anxiety disorders, depression and relationship issues and has specific expertise in stress management and the emotional aspects of disordered eating.
Taking an integrated approach with therapy, Susan calls on elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, transactional analysis and person centered therapies tailoring them to suit your personal needs - it is her belief that regardless of the approach, it is the strength of the therapeutic relationship that is the key to recovery.
At home, she has a grown up family, step-children and grand-children and has experienced all the trials, tribulations, joy and lessons that combining families can bring. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, travelling and spending time with her partner and family.
